Ride4UnitedWay Gran Fondo che i benefici 2016
On Aug. 14th 2016 hundreds of cyclists took to the road in Durham to enjoy not only a “great day on the bike” but additionally support agencies, programs and services which help many tens of thousands of people locally.
The ride featured courses which appeal to a broad cross section of bike riders. From novices and those who may not have ridden a lot recently to those more serious fitness and enthusiastic riders to experienced racers. The ride was fully supported on the course with rest stops and mechanical and communications support, and at conclusion riders can enjoy lunch, a shower and massage as they choose. The ride began and finished at the Durham District School Board Office in Whitby.
The ride was a continuation of a strong partnership with the Region of Durham and their cycling tourism initiatives.
From inception there was a dual purpose: To raise funds for the United Way and to showcase and promote the best of cycling in Durham.
The event was organized by United Way staff and volunteers in conjunction with community cycling stakeholders.
Thank you to all riders and volunteers who participated, and the donors who supported the ride and made the ride the success it was. A special thank you to the DDSB employee’s who helped make the day possible.
