Community Service Recovery Fund (CSRF)
United Way Durham Region funds 30 community service organizations through the Community Services Recovery Fund
United Way Durham Region is proud to have worked with United Way Centraide Canada as part of the Government of Canada’s Community Services Recovery Fund. This fund is being administered collaboratively by the Canadian Red Cross, Community Foundations of Canada, and United Way Centraide Canada to provide funding to Community Service Organizations, including non-profit organizations, Indigenous Governing Bodies, and Registered Charities located in Canada. The Community Services Recovery Fund responds to what Community Service Organizations need right now and supports organizations as they adapt to the long-term impacts of the pandemic.
The Community Services Recovery Fund is a one-time investment of $400 million by the Government of Canada to help Community Service Organizations (charities, non-profits, Indigenous governing bodies) adapt, modernize, and be better equipped to improve the efficacy, accessibility, and sustainability of the community services that they are providing through the pandemic recovery and beyond.

United Way Durham Region takes part in the Community Services Recovery Fund – a $400 million investment in charities and non-profits
Now more than ever, charities and non-profits are playing a key role in addressing persistent and complex social problems faced by all Canadians. The Community Services Recovery Fund is a $400 million investment from the Government of Canada to support charities and non-profits as they build resilience by making investments in their people, organizations, and program innovation. United Way Durham Region is proud to be taking part in the Community Services Recovery Fund, a collaboration between United Way Centraide Canada, Canadian Red Cross, and Community Foundations of Canada to provide funding to Community Service Organizations, including non-profit organizations, Indigenous Governing Bodies, and Registered Charities located across Canada. The Community Services Recovery Fund responds to what charities and non-profits need right now and supports organizations as they adapt to the long-term impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The deadline for applications was February 21, 2023. Applications are now being reviewed, and successful applicants will be informed by summer.

Application process key dates
January 6, 2023 – Local UWC application portal opens
February 21, 2023 – Local application portal closes
April 15, 2023 – Funding decisions made
May 1, 2023 – Project start date – CSOs can backdate expenses to this date
June 2, 2023 – Deadline for UWCs to distribute funding to CSOs
June 2, 2023 – Deadline for all funding letters to be completed
