Pam Noonan presented King Charles III Coronation Medal
In May of 2023, the Prime Minister announced the creation of a Canadian commemorative medal to mark His Majesty King Charles III’s Coronation on May 6, 2023. The Medal is a visible and tangible way to recognize 30,000 outstanding individuals of all ages and from all walks of life who have made a difference in their communities.
To be eligible for this honour, a person must have made significant contributions to the country, a province, territory, region or community, or an achievement abroad that brings benefit or honour to Canada.
A list of nominating partner organizations, representing a cross section of fields of endeavor, was approved by the Prime Minister.
United Way was chosen as one of the partner organizations. The partners were asked to nominate potential recipients. As such, each local United Way was given the opportunity to nominate just one individual for consideration as a recipient.
We are thrilled to share that our nominee; Pam Noonan was selected to receive this award.
Pam has been actively involved with the United Way in Durham for over 30 years. From early beginnings as a “campaigner” in the workplace, to Campaign Coordinator for that same workplace, to serving on the Campaign Cabinet (for many years) she joined the Board of Directors for the then United Way of Oshawa Whitby Newcastle in 2006.
Attending conferences, golf tournaments, dinners, Chamber events, speaking engagements, to name a few, she rarely says no. A wonderful ambassador for our United Way and a person who just “gets it’. Never one to back away from a challenge she led our organization through the delicate process of becoming the United Way of Durham Region in 2010.
Her leadership, sunny personality and unwavering support to our mission and to all on team United Way has been a constant. Pam we are so honoured to present you with the King Charles III Coronation Medal- created by the Sovereign and administered by the Chancellery of Honours.
