“A Great Day on The Bike” Ride4UnitedWay – In Durham Region
As fall beckons, the leaves begin to change and we prepare for Thanksgiving, Halloween and the Holidays; cyclists of all ability, shapes and sizes must wait until 2016 to relive a great day on the bike had by all this past August. Almost 400 riders helped to raise just shy of fifty thousand dollars as they enjoyed riding their bike in Durham Region.
From its’ inception the Ride4 was designed to raise funds for the United Way of Durham Region and the agencies and programs we support, and to promote the opportunity to enjoy cycling, the outdoors and the health benefits of the sport right here in Durham.
Our partnership with the Region of Durham and the Durham Festival and Tourism staff is an important example of our community partnership outreach and collaboration. We think these partnerships are a wonderful example of working collaboratively to help build a healthier and better more resilient community for all.
The ride is rapidly establishing itself as a “must do” on the cycling calendar of a growing group of cyclists and is developing a reputation for solid organization, attention to detail and a commitment to rider safety. We are grateful to our community partners. The Oshawa Cycling Club and local bike shops Impala in Whitby and Richmond Hill and Bicycles Plus in Oshawa contribute wonderfully to the success of the event and we are grateful to them for their ongoing support. A special word of thanks must go to Jay Kilgannon of RBC Wealth Management who sponsorship of this event is critical.
If you are a cycling enthusiast, or thinking of getting into cycling, or would be interested in sponsorship opportunities we invite you to contact us. Our Campaign Director (And Chief Bicycle Officer) Robert Howard would love to hear from you. We have exciting plans for the 2016 version of the ride which will be announced shortly and hope you will join us.
